Acne is a common condition that affects the hair follicles of the face and common to both boys and girls especially at their puberty stage appearing as red spots on the face surface. It is characterized by an abnormal development of cells inside the hair follicles leading to the formation of the plug that inhibits normal movement of hair skin cells and sebum resulting in rupture of the hair follicle. Swelling of the skin occurs when the ruptured hair follicles spill its contents on the skin surface making it being red.
